The Past

I have definitely zigzagged through subject matter in my work. Inspiration may have come from the veneer of my environment but in me within the painting is about the manipulation and or understanding of canvas, brush and paint. Technique is and never was a primary concern. I am about the eye to the brain through the hand. To me style implies a preconceived, self imposed judgement of every brush stroke. The subject is the focus. I am well aware it gives people a sense of comfort in knowing a Picasso or Hockney on sight. I do not need you to know my work. I want you to know my subject as I knew it at the the time that I created it.
